Asia Song Festival, a.k.a. A-Song-Fe or ASF, is an annual Asian pop music festival held in South Korea since 2004. It is hosted by the Korea Foundation for International Culture Exchange (KOFICE) and features artists from Asian countries. Participating artists are awarded a plaque of appreciation by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Best Asian Artist by the chairman of Korea Foundation for International Culture and Exchange (KOFICE). South Korean boy band TVXQ is the only act to have participated for five consecutive years, since the 1st festival in 2004.
This festival is recorded and broadcast on Seoul Broadcasting System in Korea and Fuji TV in Japan; and other major broadcasting stations around the world including United States, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Philippines, Finland, Bulgaria, Vietnam, and Singapore.
The theme song for the 2011 Festival “Dreams Come True,” a duet by Lee Donghae of Super Junior and Seohyun of Girls’ Generation, was released on 11 October 2011 as a digital single. The proceeds from the sale were donated to UNICEF to help children in African countries. The 2019 Asia Song Festival was held from October 11-12 in Ulsan Stadium. The MCs were Chani, Hyunjin, and Yeji. The performers included Winner, April, Eric Nam, UV, Sunmi, Kei, Ha Sung-Woon, Kim Jae-hwan, N.Flying, ONF, Jeong Se-Woon, Stray Kids, Itzy, The Boyz, Ateez, AB6IX, Dreamcatcher, and Jang Woo-hyuk.
The Asia Song Festival has now announced the lineup of performers for their 2020 event. This year, the Festival will be held in Gyeongju and streamed online. On September 29, 2020, the first line up of artists was revealed. This includes Red Velvet – Irene & Seulgi, Oh My Girl’s YooA, MOMOLAND, Kang Daniel, ATEEZ, iKON, and The Boyz. The main stage will take place on October 10 at 8 PM KST. The other portion, the busking performance stage, which includes K-Pop artists performing in front of Gyeongju’s cultural heritage site, will be held every day at 8 p.m. KST between October 5 and October 9. Both events will be streamed online through the Asia Song Festival’s official website and the YouTube channel “The K-pop.”
