Want A “It’s Okay To Not Be Okay” Sequel?

Kim Soo Hyun, Seo Ye Ji, and Oh Jung Se’s tvN series “It’s Okay To Not Be Okay” may have ended beautifully, but there are some questions left unanswered and a lot of new beginnings that the show can still explore.

Here are some reasons why the series deserves a short sequel, even if it’s just one special episode:

*𝑠𝑝𝑜𝑖𝑙𝑒𝑟 𝑤𝑎𝑟𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔, 𝑚𝑎𝑦 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑖𝑛 𝑑𝑒𝑡𝑎𝑖𝑙𝑠 𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑓𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝑒𝑝𝑖𝑠𝑜𝑑𝑒*

𝟏.) 𝐖𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐌𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠’𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝
She fell, bled, and was implied to have been thrown into deep waters. How did Do Hui Jae, now Park Haeng Ja, survive? Whether her husband imagined her demise, or if someone saved her — or if she miraculously woke up, got out of the bag, and swan back to safety — her escape was all left to the viewers’ imaginations and weren’t explained. And, although there are many theories regarding her survival, the actual reason wasn’t confirmed in the series. It would be great to really find out how on earth did she live, especially since she got her self a new identity despite being a well-known public figure.

𝟐.) 𝐌𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐚𝐞’𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫
Sang Tae’s now planning to do something without his brother’s help. Hence, we’d love to see what the older Moon sibling would do with his newfound job and independence. What kind of books will he illustrate and release? What kind of relationship will he form with Sang In, Seung Jae, and the publishing company’s writers? As Sang Tae is known for his unique perspective, seeing him create new dynamics with other people outside of his family is something the audience would find interesting to watch.

𝟑.) 𝐊𝐨 𝐌𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐆𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐚𝐞’𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐬
After Sang Tae goes off to explore his own path, Moon Young and Gang Tae were left to travel on their own. The couple pretty much recently started their relationship, and a peek on what they plan to do during his journey would be a bonus for the couple’s fans. What are they going to do next? Will they continue to travel without any destination in mind, or will they eventually settle down and get married? As they are still in the beginning stage of their relationship, their story is still open to a lot of possibilities.

𝟒.) 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬’ 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬
There are two blossoming romances that recently started just as when the show was about to end. Hence, we’d love to see short clips showing whether Juri and Sang In will eventually become a couple, and what their life will be like if they ever get together. We’re also curious to know if Jae Su and Seung Jae’s relationship will level up. Seeing as Jae Su needs a part-timer (who is a great worker, someone he likes, and draws well) and Seung Jae sometimes feels like wanting to resign from her job, the two would actually be a great pair who complements each other. Then there’s Areum and Jung Tae, will Areum return to Korea for good and will Jung Tae finally get discharged from OK Psychiartict Hospital? There are so many stories that could still be explored.

𝟓.) 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐎𝐟 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐎𝐟 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭”
Although Gang Tae did say that it’s better not to read Do Hui Jae’s book, and we’re not that keen in seeing the book get published — to be honest, it’s fine even if it doesn’t end up on print. Still, seeing how easy it was for Do Hui Jae to end the Moon siblings’ mother’s life over a petty reason, it’s possible that Do Hui Jae might have committed even more crimes. As Moon Young often incorporates her own experiences and feeling on her children’s storybooks, it’s possible that Do Hui Jae — like most writers — also follows the same method. If so, her books could lead to clues and evidence about her possible crimes and way of life, and could somehow bring justice to whatever it is she could have committed. That alone could start a whole new crime-thriller series apart from the original “It’s Okay To Not Be Okay.”

Again, “It’s Okay To Not Be Okay” gave us a heartwarming and satisfying ending. It ended in a way that the audience’s hearts would feel full. The whole series could go on without a second season or even a sequel. But it is open to a lot of possibilities and new beginnings. In conclusion, the series is enough as it is but could be continued if the producers want to.
