GOT7’s JAY B, Jinyoung, Youngjae, Mark, Jackson, Yugyeom, and BamBam may not be labelmates anymore following their departure from JYP Entertainment, but their bond as a group lives on, as they’ve shown their audience via their single “ENCORE.” The members joined different companies to pursue their solo careers, and it is heartwarming to witness them further grow in their distinctive activities.
Here is a rundown of how each GOT7 member has been showcasing his individual talents this year.
1. JAY B
JAY B retired his previous stage name JB as he joined H1GHR MUSIC and has since been focusing on his music career. He began his new solo journey by releasing “Switch It Up” featuring rapper sokodomo. A couple of months later, he followed up with his EP release “SOMO:FUME,” with Jay Park featuring in his title track “B.T.W.” He also participated in “The King of Mask Singer” as “Toad’s House.” Finally, JAY B released “I’m Surfin’” as part of the “Feel the Rhythm of Korea 2” promotional campaign on September 3.

2. Jinyoung
Jinyoung signed with the famous acting agency BH Entertainment, and he has been dominating the small screen this summer thanks to his new drama “The Devil Judge,” in which he starred alongside actor Ji Sung. His acting was praised by the drama’s writer Moon Yoo Suk, who spoke highly of his sincerity and seriousness in portraying the role. He also shared his new self-composed digital single “DIVE,” which was announced within hours of its scheduled release, much to the surprise and delight of his fans. He will also be appearing in the upcoming drama “Yumi’s Cells,” in which he will play the role of a popular, handsome, and sweet office worker.

3. Youngjae
Another member who has been busy acting is Youngjae, who signed with Sublime Artist Agency. He got the leading role as Ha Ram in the musical “Midnight Sun,” which was performed from May 1 to July 25. The idol-actor also joined the cast of the Netflix sitcom series “So Not Worth It” as one of the group of multinational students who live together in a university dorm in Seoul. He is currently working on his album, hoping to release it before the year ends.
4. Mark
Following his contract expiration, Mark packed his things and bid his fellow members goodbye before heading to his native city of Los Angeles. Last February, he dropped a collaboration track titled “One in a Million” with Sanjoy. A few months later, he signed with American talent and sports agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Mark uploaded his farewell before leaving Korea on his YouTube channel.
5. Jackson
Soon after Jackson’s contract with JYP Entertainment concluded, his label TEAM WANG signed a business agreement with Sublime Artist Agency. This fresh union will cover global business including Korea and China. A couple of months later, Jackson blessed the fans by collaborating with Rain on “MAGNETIC” as a b-side track on Rain’s most recent album. Jackson then released his single “LMLY (Leave Me Loving You),” which he performed on “The Late Late Show with James Corden.” Recently, Jackson released an English collaboration with Internet Money titled “Drive You Home,” for which he yet again showcased his directing skills for the music video.
6. Yugyeom
Yugyeom was welcomed by AOMG soon after he parted ways with JYP Entertainment. Fast forward six months, and the singer officially debuted as a soloist with his first album “Point Of View: U,” for which he chose “All Your Fault” featuring Gray as his title track. His pre-release track “I Want U Around” featuring DeVita received a lot of love, as it topped iTunes charts around the world.
7. BamBam
BamBam is now part of Abyss Company, home to artists such as Sunmi and Sandara Park. His new solo adventure started with the release of his very first mini album “riBBon” and the title track of the same name. His debut was instantly met with a lot of love, as “riBBon” — both the album and the title track — topped iTunes charts on a worldwide scale. In an exclusive interview with Soompi, BamBam addressed his goals and aspirations for his newfound solo career.
