The four leads of JTBC’s new Saturday-Sunday drama A Virtuous Business—Kim So-yeon, Kim Sung-ryung, Kim Sun-young, and Lee Se-hee—have confidently stepped into the spotlight, unveiling the main poster for Bangpan Sisters. The poster boldly proclaims, “Pursue your desires without delay.”
Directed by Jo Woong and written by Choi Bo-rim, A Virtuous Business (produced by Hi-Zium Studio and SLL) delves into a provocative narrative set in 1992, a time when discussing sex was taboo. The series follows the ‘Bangpan Sisters’ as they venture into selling adult products door-to-door in a conservative rural village.
The central characters include Han Jeong-suk (Kim So-yeon), the poised leader; Oh Geum-hee (Kim Sung-ryung), the sophisticated intellect; Seo Yeong-bok (Kim Sun-young), the dynamic force; and Lee Joo-ri (Lee Se-hee), the fiery truth-teller. The poster, revealed on September 11, showcases their vibrant journey as they aim to address and fulfill the hidden desires of Geumje Village.
In 1992, rural Geumje villagers masked their true needs and desires behind social propriety. Women secretly perused articles on intimate topics while ostensibly engaging in mundane activities. Similarly, the ‘Bangpan Sisters’ grapple with their own suppressed desires: Jeong-suk, married to a troubled husband; Geum-hee, living a dull life with her ‘old-fashioned’ spouse; Yeong-bok, enduring an overbearing husband; and Joo-ri, facing judgment as a single mother.
As the ‘Bangpan Sisters’ embark on their venture selling ‘Fantasy Lingerie’, they challenge societal norms with their motto, “Our women also deserve a passionate sex life.” Their mission injects a fresh energy into the lives of couples who have long avoided discussions of intimacy. The poster captures this vibrant spirit with the sisters dressed in eye-catching attire, symbolizing their bold stand against societal taboos.
