TVING has announced their main lineup for a new dark thriller called Pyramid Game, pitting student against student in a twisted all-girls high school class where a monthly vote determines the next victim of bullying.
Based on a popular webtoon by the same title, the story follows our heroine – played by Bona (Joseon Attorney) – as she leads a rebellion to end the cruelty. This central character is Sung Soo-ji (Bona), a recent transfer student who quickly becomes the new target of the month.
Resolving to stop the violence for everyone’s sake, Soo-ji then faces off against rookie actor Jang Da-ah, who takes on the role of the wicked witch class princess Baek Ha-rin. As the only daughter of a powerful chaebol family, Ha-rin, of course, sits at the top of the pyramid.
In their class of eighteen students, Ryu Da-in’s (Crash Course in Romance) character is Soo-ji’s downhearted deskmate Myung Ja-eun. And Kang Na-eon (Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938) plays the easy going Im Ye-rim, who is currently in training to be a K-pop idol.
Rounding out the main group, we also have fellow classmates Jung Ha-dam (Sweet Home), Shin Seul-gi (Single’s Inferno 2), and Ha Yul-ri (Pandora: Beneath the Paradise) among others. Notably, the former two are described as the top mark achievers in their grade with Jung often hidden in the shadow, in second place behind Shin.
Production for the series will have PD Park So-yeon (The Heavenly Idol) at the helm with scripts by Choi Su-yi – in addition to PD Lee Jae-kyu (All of Us Are Dead) as creator. TVING’s Pyramid Game is currently set to release in 2024.
