There’s no stopping Parasite as it continues to reap awards left and right!

At the British Academy Film Awards, also known as the BAFTAs, held in London on Sunday, the Korean black comedy won awards in two categories — original screenplay and film not in the English language. Park Chan wook won the latter honor with his film “The Handmaiden” in 2018.

“I didn’t expect this award at all, because this script was written in a foreign language”, Bong said through an interpreter in his acceptance speech. “I once again would like to thank my amazing actors who actualized the dialogue and scenes that I wrote. I really believe that their body language and expressions are truly the universal language”, he added.

The awards for best film and best director went to Sam Mendes’ war epic “1917”.

A day earlier, Parasite won the best original screenplay honor at the Writers Guild of America Awards in California, making it the first foreign film to do so.
