OCN’s “The Uncanny Counter” ratings are going up!

On December 5, the 3rd episode of “The Uncanny Counter” aired and it has done tremendously well in ratings. According to Nielsen Korea, the third episode scored an average nationwide rating of 5.3%, nearly double that of its premiere ratings, it also achieved a peak of 6.2%. And despite being a cable channel drama, “The Uncanny Counter” took the first spot in its time slot across all channels, including public networks.

On the other hand, tvN’s “Start-Up” which has one more episode left to go seems to have reached stagnant ratings. “Start-Up” 15th episode scored 5.0% nationwide, a slight dip from last week’s episodes.

Which one of these weekend dramas are you currently watching?

My Personal Thoughts

A lot of people, especially on twitter, have been discussing “The Uncanny Counter” prior to its premiere. I wasn’t that excited because I didn’t read the webcomic which it was based on but I must say, I am enjoying it a lot so far.

I generally like OCN dramas a lot, they’re a great mix of what I like. So far, it’s a tad cliché as you’d expect from a drama about heros but so much fun. Joe Byeong Gyu has that innocent vibe to him and he does a great job with what would’ve easily been a stereotypical character easily.

Start-Up” 15th episode was fine, like its second half, fine. I will publish a review soon after watching the last episode. I just hope that Ji Pyeong gets a happy ending.
