Disney+ unveils their 2024 K-content lineup

Taking a leaf from the Netflix promo guidebook, a new video announcement has come out on Disney+, allowing us a sneak preview into the year’s lineup. It’s actually exciting to see early footage and stills, as many of these shows seem to go behind an iron curtain after initial casting news, making us wait months – or years even – before we can start preparing the popcorn. Note to self: buy more snacks.
Drama: The Impossible Heir
Release date: February 28, 2024
Need to know: In just over a week, the crime-suspense will have our trio of social misfits teaming up, with Lee Jae-wook orchestrating the ultimate plan in order for Lee Jun-young and Hong Su-ju to usurp the chaebol throne.
Drama: Blood Free (previously Dominant Species)
Release date: April 2024
Need to know: Joo Ji-hoon, Han Hyo-joo, Lee Hee-joon, Lee Moo-saeng, and Park Ji-yeon take us to a new world in the latest sci-fi thriller by Forest of Secrets writer Lee Soo-yeon, where humankind has entered an age of artificially cultured meat.
Drama: Uncle Sam-shik
Release date: May 2024
Need to know: Marking Song Kang-ho’s much-anticipated drama debut, the period piece follows his friendship with Byun Yo-han during the stormy 1960s in South Korea. The historical also stars Lee Kyu-hyung, Jin Ki-joo, and Seo Hyun-woo.
Drama: Red Swan (previously Hwa-in Family Scandal)
Release date: Q3 or Q4 2024
Need to know: Although it was a dream come true for Kim Haneul to marry into the Hwa-in Group, what awaits her on the other side is closer to a nightmare. But the melodrama can’t stop here and it’s only about to get more complicated, with her devoted bodyguard Rain secretly crafting revenge against the conglomerate.
Drama: The Tyrant
Release date: Q3 or Q4 2024
Need to know: As a spin-off of The Witch film series, the 4-episode action sci-fi follows Cha Seung-won, Kim Sun-ho, and Kim Kang-woo in the merciless race to find the missing last sample from a superhuman experiment.
Drama: Trigger
Release date: Q3 or Q4 2024
Need to know: An underdog office comedy starring Kim Hye-soo, Jung Sung-il, and Joo Jong-hyuk, who need to put their bickering aside and put their heads together to save their mystery-documentary show before the network pulls the plug.
Drama: Gangnam B-Side (previously Bulk)
Release date: Q3 or Q4 2024
Need to know: Ji Chang-wook is back in Gangnam’s seedy underground after The Worst of Evil last year, teaming up this time with Jo Woo-jin and Ha Yoon-kyung in a ~black connection~ union between a demoted cop, penniless prosecutor, and mysterious broker.
Drama: Light Shop
Release date: Q3 or Q4 2024
Need to know: Joo Ji-hoon graces our screens again in a mystery-horror with Park Bo-young, bridging the mortal and spirit realms as our title’s shop owner. With the original webtoonist and Moving writer Kangfull penning the scripts, actor Kim Hee-won takes the reins in production in his drama director debut.
As a special mention, the variety program The Zone: Survival Mission will also be returning later this year with Season 3.
