Doubt kdrama – Episode 4 Recap and Spoilers.
“People don’t believe what they see; they see what they believe.”
Tension has reached an all-time high with the shocking ending of Han Seok-kyu and Chae Won-bin in Doubt.
In the fourth episode of MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama Doubt, which aired on October 19, the startling scene of Yoon Ji-soo (Oh Yeon-soo), the deceased ex-wife of Jang Tae-soo (Han Seok-kyu) and mother of Ha-bin (Chae Won-bin), abandoning a body turned the living room theater upside down. This twist raised questions about Ji-soo’s involvement in the case and heightened the urgency for Tae-soo to uncover the truth.
Episode 4 of Doubt recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 5.5% and 5.4% in the metropolitan area. The shocking twists and unpredictable developments kept viewers on the edge of their seats, with the highest rating soaring to 6.9% (Nielsen Korea).
Tae-soo made a pivotal decision when all the evidence pointed to Ha-bin. The identity of the skeleton was revealed to be that of Lee Soo-hyun (Song Ji-hyun), and evidence linking Ha-bin to both her and the victim Song Min-ah was found on Ha-bin’s bag keychain. Faced with this painful situation, Tae-soo urged Ha-bin to turn herself in. Ha-bin retorted with a pointed remark, saying, “People don’t believe what they see; they see what they believe.”
As Tae-soo attempted to take Ha-bin to the police station, the police arrived first. Ha-bin had reported Tae-soo for domestic violence, claiming he was suspicious to the point of paranoia. As she left, she confronted him: “Are you crazy, Dad? Are you that sure? Have you ever asked me why I’m doing this?” Her question left Tae-soo feeling foolish for doubting her.
Meanwhile, it was revealed that Lee Soo-hyun was part of Choi Young-min’s (Kim Jung-jin) runaway family, leading to Young-min’s arrest as a suspect in two murder cases. Tae-soo began interrogating Young-min, who threatened him by saying he knew Ha-bin and that she had killed Song Min-ah. Unfazed, Tae-soo pressed him with leading questions. Young-min, caught off guard, accidentally revealed that Lee Soo-hyun’s body was buried, but was released due to lack of conclusive evidence.
Ha-bin helped Young-min evade the police and called him to the mountains, where Lee Soo-hyun’s skeletal body had been discovered. Young-min questioned Ha-bin about her knowledge of the location and their relationship. He accused her of seeking revenge against him for blackmailing her mother and extorting money, suggesting that she killed Song Min-ah. He then showed her a video saved on his phone.
The broadcast ended with a shocking revelation: the video showed Ha-bin’s mother, Ji-soo, frantically digging the ground, next to Lee Soo-hyun’s body. Ha-bin’s face turned red with shock upon watching it. At the same time, Tae-soo discovered a cell phone in a locked drawer in Ha-bin’s room—Lee Soo-hyun’s cell phone, registered to his deceased wife, Ji-soo. This unexpected connection left Tae-soo confused, as Ji-soo’s involvement in the case surfaced, adding to the chaos between father and daughter.
Through this episode, it was revealed why Ha-bin had contacted Song Min-ah and ended up at the murder scene. She had intentionally approached them to uncover who threatened her mother and extorted money. Tae-soo, unaware of his daughter’s plan, found himself more desperate to uncover the truth as the connections between his daughter and wife to the case became clear.
Additionally, suspicious characters were introduced, including Park Joon-tae (Yoo Eui-tae), Ha-bin’s former homeroom teacher; Kim Sung-hee (Choi Yoo-hwa), the landlord of the runaway family’s dormitory; and an unidentified helmeted man watching Tae-soo and Ha-bin, raising questions about their secrets. The story continues to deepen with more revelations, making Doubt a must-watch drama.
MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama Doubt will be canceled on October 25 due to the broadcast of Game 4 of the 2024 KBO Korean Series. The fifth episode will air on Saturday, October 26, at 9:50 PM.
