On September 9, JTBC’s new Wednesday drama Family By Choice (written by Hong Si-young and directed by Kim Seung-ho) gave a preview of Bae Hyun-seong’s character development.
Family By Choice explores the romance that unfolds when three youths, who have shared a familial bond for 10 years only to be separated and encounter each other as strangers for another 10 years, reunite.
In the drama, Kang Hae-joon (played by Bae Hyun-seong) is a character who, for reasons unknown, has been living as a biological son in the home of Yoon Jung-jae (played by Choi Won-young), who was his mother’s blind date years ago. Despite his tumultuous childhood, Kang Hae-joon maintains a cheerful disposition and is candid with his emotions. His endearing personality and knack for nagging have made him a beloved presence in his family.
He holds a special place in his heart for Yoon Jung-jae and his younger brother, Yoon Joo-won (played by Jung Chae-yeon), who embraced him as family despite their lack of blood relation. Determined to honor his father figure Yoon Jung-jae and be a supportive older brother to Yoon Joo-won, Kang Hae-joon is committed to succeeding in basketball. Whether he will achieve his dream remains to be seen.
