Finding love and healing in Doctor Slump
by lovepark
JTBC’s upcoming rom-com Doctor Slump looks adorable with its leads Park Hyung-shik (Our Blooming Youth) and Park Shin-hye (Sisyphus) portraying a cute rivals-to-lovers romance. From bickering to crying, these two former classmates meet again at the lowest point of their lives, and something unexpected blooms between them.
During their school days, Nam Ha-neul (Park Shin-hye) shook her head at all the girls who would fawn over Yeo Jung-woo (Park Hyung-shik), but the sentiment was mutual since Jung-woo never understood why any boy thought Ha-neul was nice. His disdain stemmed from being dethroned by Ha-neul which ruined his perfect report card, and he nearly fainted in class because of it.
Sometime in the future, our leads bump into each other, but they’re no longer the bright-eyed kids they used to be. The trailer shows Jung-woo being hounded by reporters outside a courthouse, and Ha-neul stands numb as someone throws papers in her face and bumps into her.

Our leads feel like their lives are ending, but to their surprise, they find solace in each other as they hug and cry under the cherry blossom trees. Jung-woo wonders why he feels comforted by her presence, and Ha-neul questions why one word from him puts her at ease.
Out of the blue, Ha-neul tells Jung-woo to go on a blind date, and he spends the night agonizing over what to wear. Unbeknownst to either of them, they begin to grow closer, and Jung-woo asks why they’ve been acting like this recently.
JTBC has also released a couple of stills, focusing on the different phases of Jung-woo. The first two depict him at the height of his career as a successful plastic surgeon, but the third has him in a police station under interrogation.
Directed by PD Oh Hyun-jong (The One and Only) and written by Baek Sun-woo (My Roommate Is a Gumiho), Doctor Slump will premiere on January 27 in the Saturday-Sunday slot.
