The first stills have finally dropped for ENA’s upcoming suspense-thriller Paper Moon, which is based on the Japanese novel Kami no Tsuki by Mitsuyo Kakuta. The story has been adapted into both a movie and drama in Japan, and ENA’s new Korean remake is headlined by Kim Seo-hyung (Mine) in the lead role.
From an outside perspective, Yoo Yi-hwa (Kim Seo-hyung) lives a life of comfort without any material needs, privileged to be a housewife to a well-earning husband. In reality, though, Yi-hwa’s life is filled with suffering and suffocation from her husband’s indifferent attitude, and she’s pushed to make a change for herself in order to find her own real happiness.
Looking for new purpose, the story follows Yi-hwa’s journey as she starts working at a nearby bank and re-builds her self-confidence and self-worth. But she gets herself into trouble one day when she makes the irreversible decision to embezzle money from the bank’s VIP clients.
Although not yet featured in the promos, the drama also stars Yoo Sun (Eve), Seo Young-hee (Would You Like a Cup of Coffee), Lee Chun-hee (Law School), and Lee Shi-woo (The Fabulous), in addition to Gong Jung-hwan (Imitation) in the role of Yi-hwa’s husband.
Filming for the drama has already been completed with scripts penned by Noh Yoon-su and directing helmed collaboratively by PD Yoo Jong-sun (Secret Royal Inspector and Joy, Designated Survivor: 60 Days) and filmmaker Jung Won-hee (Doom Doom). Coming to our screens this April, Paper Moon will be releasing on both ENA and TVING.
