MBC’s upcoming fantasy Golden Spoon has finally unveiled stills of the drama’s first script reading, featuring leads Yook Sung-jae (Mystic Pop-up Bar), Lee Jong-won (Hospital Playlist 2), Jung Chae-yeon (The King’s Affection), and Yeonwoo (Dal-li and Gamjatang).
The webtoon adaptation has Yook Sung-jae as the adventure’s hero, Lee Seung-chun. He and and his friend, Hwang Tae-yong – played by Lee Jong-won – straddle opposite ends of the economic spectrum. But through the use of a mysterious golden spoon, their destines become switched.
Rounding out the main quartet, we have Jung Chae-yeon in the role of the righteous Na Joo-hee, while Yeonwoo plays the spunky Oh Yeo-jin. We’re told that the two come from affluent families, but how the main character become involved with one another has yet to be revealed.
In supporting roles, Tae-yong’s parents will be played by Choi Won-young (Moonshine) and Sohn Yeo-eun (The King’s Affection). Seung-chan’s parents will be played by Choi Dae-chul (Inspector Koo) and Han Chae-ah (The King’s Affection).
The lineup also includes the mystical Golden Spoon Granny – played by Song Ok-sook (Uncle) – as well as Lee In-hye (Graceful Friends), Jang Ryul (My Name), Kim Eun-soo (Red Heart), and Jo Deok-hwe (Woori the Virgin), among others.
On the production side, PD Song Hyun-wook (The King’s Affection) and PD Lee Han-joon are co-directing, while writers Yoon Eun-kyung (Prime Minister and I) and Kim Eun-hui collaborated on scripts.
MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama Golden Spoon will be coming to our screens this September, following Big Mouth.
