German Radio Host DJ Matthias Matuschik is under heavy fire after his recent remarks against BTS became public.
The Bayern 3 network presenter’s recent remarks have gone viral on social media and the hashtag #Bayern3Racist has gained more than 1 million mentions as of this writing.
Matthias Matuschik compared BTS to COVID-19, and said they were just as awful adding that he hopes there will be a vaccine for them soon, “Some crappy virus that hopefully there will be a vaccine for soon as well.” He also expressed his shock at BTS “MTV Unplugged” cover of Coldplay’s “Fix You” as well when the band themselves expressed love for it.
Before he began talking about BTS, he said he wasn’t xenophobia,
“I have a car from South Korea, I have the coolest car ever… [going on about the car engine and what not] and ending with “Korea rules,”
He added,
“But BTS… B.T.S, they have done an MTV Unplugged now, with a boy band… ‘UNPLUGGED.’ that’s a paradox in itself. And these fuckwits bragged about covering ‘fix you’ by Coldplay,’ I think this is blasphemy and I am an atheist. This is… this is outrageous, for this you will be vacationing in North Korea for the next 20 years.”
Things became worse after Bayern 3 issued what fans labeled to be a non-apology, they stated, “Matuschik wasn’t trying to be offensive, he was just clowning around,” the DJ himself hasn’t responded to fans calls of an apology yet.
This has become an issue not only among BTS fans by the entire Asian community as well, as there has been a rise in violent attack against the Asian community due to misinformation about COVID-19 being spread around. Fans think it’s unacceptable and inexcusable the comments he made against BTS.
Fans have also been trending the hashtag #Bayern3Apologize asking for the an apology and explanation regarding the situation.
