Actress Han Ji-hyun has shared her thoughts on participating in the spin-off of No Gain No Love, Spice Up Our Love.

On the 4th, Han Ji-hyun met with Star News at a cafe in Seongdong-gu, Seoul and talked about the tvN, Tving Monday-Tuesday drama No Gain No Love which ended on the 1st.

No Gain No Love is a zero-profit/loss romance drama about Son Hae-young (Shin Min-ah), a woman who got married because she didn’t want to lose money, and Kim Ji-wook (Kim Young-dae), a man who became her groom because he didn’t want to be a victim. Han Ji-hyun plays the role of Nam Ja-yeon, a famous 19+ web novel writer who boasts a closer bond with Son Hae-young than family. Nam Ja-yeon also has a ‘hate relationship’ with Bok Gyu-hyun (Lee Sang-yi), the CEO of Honeybee Education who left malicious comments on her novels, and they eventually fall in love.

On this day, Han Ji-hyun said about the male character’s job as a 19+ novel writer, “At first, I had concerns about the job after receiving the script.” She also said, “I read the 19+ novel and it required me to write down every little detail. So I thought it was harder than I thought.”

Han Ji-hyun also appeared in the spin-off series Spice Up Our Love, which shares the worldview of the 19+ web novel of the same name written by Nam Ja-yeon.

In Spice Up Our Love, Han Ji-hyun portrayed the passionate love between Lee Sang-yi and an adult. Regarding this, Han Ji-hyun said, “I worried about how to film that scene. I’ve only filmed kissing scenes a little bit (in other works) so far, and I was so scared. My biggest thought was, ‘Will I be sexy?’ But I ended up doing it.”

Han Ji-hyun also confessed that she felt a lot of pressure while working on Spice Up Our Love. She said, “I felt pressured because I didn’t want to cause damage to No Gain No Love. I couldn’t tell the backstory, so (viewers) were like, ‘What is this!’ “I was really worried that it might happen,” she said.

When asked about her thoughts on the finale of No Gain No Love, Han Ji-hyun said, “I was so happy and wanted to thank you. It was a meaningful and lovely project. It was healing and I learned a lot from it in terms of acting.”

Regarding her chemistry with Shin Min-ah, she said, “I think she’s a senior I’m so grateful for. When I was acting, she would ask me if I was okay, and because she’s so affectionate, she made the set atmosphere cheerful. I was able to do it with ease, and because I was with her, I think I acted with the thought of ‘I want to do it too’.”

In the drama, Han Ji-hyun acted out the complex emotions and inner self of a character who blamed herself for the fact that the culprit who murdered Shin Min-ah’s father was her own father, and lived by Shin Min-a’s side despite her shame. Regarding this, Han Ji-hyun said, “I cry just looking at her eyes.”

She added, “Her diction was so good, I just cried when she said a single word. Acting was so great. I was grateful, and she took good care of me on set, treated me warmly, and she’s a really nice person.” She also expressed her affection, saying, “I fell in love at first sight with my senior. She was so pretty, like a flower in a bouquet on her wedding day.”

Talking about Lee Sang-yi, she said “I think he’s a senior I’m so grateful for.” She continued, “When I was having a mental breakdown while acting, he was there for me. He was very affectionate. He also made the set cheerful. I was able to act with peace of mind. He guided me a lot.”

She also said that she relied on Lee Sang-yi a lot. She said, “In No Gain No Love, I had a lot of strong supporters like Shin Min-ah, but they all disappeared,” and “That’s why I relied on Lee Sang-yi even more at that time.”

Han Ji-hyun and Lee Sang-yi are also seniors and juniors at the Korea National University of Arts. However, she said that they weren’t particularly close at school. She said, “If we knew each other, it would have been more awkward (in terms of love scenes), but I didn’t know him well and only knew his name. When I entered college, my senior was doing a musical. Still, he was my senior at school, so he took good care of me.”
