Hospital hijinks in Doctor Cha Jung-sook teasers
by missvictrix
JTBC’s Doctor Cha Jung-sook is gearing up for its premiere in a few weeks, and we’ve got a new poster, two short “10 second” teasers, and a full teaser this week that hammer in the prevailing themes of this drama: hospital hijinks, comedic couple sparring, and a woman on a journey to fulfill her dream.
The drama stars Uhm Jung-hwa (Our Blues) as a housewife who wants to pursue her dream of being a doctor, which she put off in favor of her husband and family for twenty long years. Said husband is played by Kim Byung-chul (All of Us Are Dead), who’s bringing the comedy — and comedic outrage — to the forefront.

In the first short teaser, we see our heroine Jung-sook on a multi-pronged shopping spree. Her husband — a senior doctor with a crowd of eager residents around him — can’t hide his fury every time his phone pings with an alert that she’s swiped the credit card lol.
In the second short teaser, we see Jung-sook in her doctor’s coat in the hospital, greeted respectfully by a passing group of residents. They don’t notice but it’s awkward for her — she mutters hilariously that she’s actually also a resident (and thus their peer) as she totters in the hallway.
But it’s the drama’s new poster — featuring Jung-sook’s former identity as pretty samonim getting dragged out of her comfort zone by Jung-sook in resident-mode — that speaks to the inner journey that our heroine will undergo. That same transformative journey is also pulled out in the new full-length teaser. We see Jung-sook discontented in her current life while emotive music plays. Then, ever so slightly, the music and tone shift into something hopeful — and even cheeky — as we end on Jung-sook giving us a shrug and a smile as if to say: Why not?
Written by Jung Yeo-rang (Five Enough), Doctor Cha Jung-sook premieres on JTBC on April 15, following Divorce Attorney Shin.
