HYBE is being criticized for their latest girl group.
On June 27, the label announced that they would be releasing a new virtual girl group called SYNDI8.
The group made up of members Canary, Raven, Nest, and Goyo has already become a hot issue of contention.
Canary, in particular has sparked controversy over its uncanny similarities with Karina.

Netizens felt that the designs’ emphasis on the character’s crotch was emblematic of this. Recently, incels in Korea were ridiculed for their disturbing reaction to Y-Zone safety shorts.
Netizens criticized HYBE by calling them old men and brought up the fact that many of HYBE’s executives were from Nexxen, a game company. Game companies and forums are synonymous with incel breeding grounds in Korea.
- “Those ajussi’s in that picture with executives are the ones who made this, huh?”
- “Smells like Nexxen.”
- “Huh? It sucks how they emphasize the characters’ Y-Zones.

- “Way to remind us that you guys are from a game company. You guys all have no taste.”
- “They are seriously so obsessed with the Y-Zone, lol.”
