Jeon Yeo-bin and Ahn Hyo-seob remember A Time Called You

Flannel! Cassette tapes! A story of first love and loss! (Did they write this script just for me?) Netflix’s latest stills dump for the upcoming A Time Called You delivers all the feels. The drama is the much-anticipated Korean remake of the beloved Taiwanese drama Someday or One Day, and stars Jeon Yeo-bin (Glitch), Ahn Hyo-seop (Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim 3), and Kang Hoon (The Secret Romantic Guesthouse).

Our heroine Han Joon-hee (Jeon Yeo-bin) has been grieving the loss of her boyfriend Gu Yeon-joon (Ahn Hyo-seop), but a mysterious cassette tape promises her a second chance at happiness. The fantastical portion of our story kicks in here, and our heroine is transported back to 1998 where she is now the high school student Kwon Min-joo. In this past scenario, she encounters Nam Shi-heon (Ahn Hyo-seob) and his best friend Jung In-kyu (Kang Hoon), and it’s all crushes and hope and longing and second chances from there.

The latest stills appear to show us our characters in both timelines/universes, and it doesn’t take much more than this to get me excited. While I have no doubt in Ahn Hyo-seob’s ability to look fetching and grin swoonily from a distance, I’m most interested in seeing Jeon Yeo-bin in this role. She has so much gravitas onscreen that it almost feels as if the high school character will be too confining for her. Where will all that energy go? And as for Kang Hoon, it’s a joy to watch this boy’s career rise.

Directed by PD Kim Jin-won (My Country: The New Age), with scripts adapted by Choi Hyo-bi (Babysitter), A Time Called You drops its 12 episodes on September 8.
