Jung Hae-in and Gu Kyo-hwan face a bigger battle in D.P.2

Netflix’s hit D.P. is back for Season 2, and so are our heroes Jung Hae-in (Connect) and Gu Kyo-hwan (Monstrous). Rough, poignant, and a bit of a gut-punch, the series saw a ton of success, and the second season will likely follow suit.

Continuing the story of our deserter pursuit unit, Ahn Jun-ho (Jung Hae-in) and Han Ho-yeol (Gu Kyo-hwan) are dispatched once again to deal with military runaways. The concept is simple enough, but as we know from the first season, it’s often brutality, suffering, and desperation that make soldiers desert in the first place. Bringing them back sounds easy, but proves difficult and full of many a moral dilemma.

The full trailer opens on a deceptively light tone with a buddy cop vibe running strong — but then, in the mother of all tonal shifts, we see the D.P.2 we were expecting.

The fisticuffs are replaced with a deeply troubled Jun-ho, a rogue military shooter, and a whole lot of political plays from the higher-ups in the army. It looks tense, and also showcases more of our characters — like the ever-sexy Sohn Seok-gu (Big Bet) (sorry, that just found its way in there).

We can also look forward to Kim Sung-kyun (Divorce Attorney Shin), Choi Hyun-wook (Weak Hero Class 1), Ji Jin-hee (The Road: The Tragedy of One), Kim Ji-hyun (Thirty Nine), Moon Sang-hoon (Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim 3), and more.

PD Han Joon-hee (D.P., Weak Hero Class 1) returns with original webtoon author Kim Bo-tong collaborating on the scripts. D.P. 2 drops on July 28 on Netflix.
