Jung Ryeo-won faces off with Lee Kyu-hyung in Disney+’s May It Please the Court

Promotional materials have finally been released for Disney+’s May It Please the Court (previously I Will Start the Defense), giving us our first look at our legal duo.

The drama’s first character poster features Jung Ryeo-won (Diary of a Prosecutor) as the hotshot lawyer Noh Chak-hee. With a 92% win rate, Chak-hee is described as a “crazy dog” who will bite anything she’s instructed to. Nothing can stand between her and victory — holding a pair of fancy sunglasses in her hand, Chak-hee smugly stares down the camera, as if daring anyone to try and challenge her.

In the drama’s first teaser, we’re first introduced to public defender Jwa Shi-baek, played by Lee Kyu-hyung (All of Us Are Dead). With a furrow in his brow and a pen tucked behind his ear, Shi-baek looks every bit the office oddball. As he flings a stack of legal papers into the air, he licks the ice cream cone in his hand, only to realize he’s already finished every last bit of it.

On the other hand, ace attorney Chak-hee snatches a fluttering sheet of paper out of the air. Without a moment’s hesitation, she tears it in half, demonstrating her viciously competitive side. The camera zooms in on Chak-hee, and she raises her eyebrows confidently; she’s not about to let anything get in her way.

Helmed by PD Kang Min-gu (Itaewon Class) and scriptwriter Kim Dan, May It Please the Court will be premiering on Disney+ in September.
