Kim Dong-wook drives Jin Ki-joo back to 1987 in You, Whom I Met By Chance

The first teaser has dropped for KBS’s You, Whom I Met By Chance along with some new stills that feature the fantasy drama’s lead cast, Kim Dong-wook (King of Pigs) and Jin Ki-joo (Showtime Begins). We also get our first look at Seo Ji-hye (Love All Play) – not to be confused with the other Seo Ji-hye (Adamas).

Having different but overlapping agendas, the story has our protagonists teaming up to take a trip in time back to 1987. While news anchor Yoon Hae-joon (Kim Dong-wook) needs to investigate an old serial murder case, Baek Yoon-young (Jin Ki-joo) wants to stop her parents from getting married.

This leads Yoon-young to seek out her mother in 1987, the young Soon-ae (Seo Ji-hye) – who is played by Lee Ji-hyun (Love All Play) in the present. I’m not sure how time travel will work in this universe, but the question on my mind is what will the new future bring for Yoon-young if she succeeds in preventing her parents’ marriage in the past?

The new video teaser opens on the start-up screen of the time travel machine, where the destination date is set for 1987. We then wait with Hae-joon until Yoon-young arrives with a smile. Getting into the car together, the teaser then comes to a close as our leads travel to 1987 in a less chaotic Back to the Future style.

With writing by Baek So-yeon (Tale of Nokdu) and directing helmed by PD Kang Soo-yeon (Tale of Nokdu, Ghost Detective) and PD Lee Woong-hee, KBS’s You, Whom I Met By Chance is slated to broadcast January 2023, in the Wednesday-Thursday slot.
