Kim Dong-wook’s Seoul Busters are exiled to preschool

In a callout to the childhood superheroes of yore, the Power Rangers Seoul Busters have arrived in gloriously campy fashion, delivering the first promos for Disney+’s action-comedy. Newly opening their office doors, our ragtag police unit is raring to kick some baddie butts, assembled in formation behind leader Kim Dong-wook (Delightfully Deceitful).

Embarrassing the police force with their poor results and rankings, the new teaser opens with the group facing exile and forced to move from the station base to a temporary setup. Their moods are further soured, though, when they find themselves at an abandoned children’s preschool and our not-too-sharp maknae Lee Seung-woo (Vigilante) misreads the broken sign, sounding like he’s swearing and spelling their doom.

Indeed, our new sprout Jang Tan-shik (Lee Seung-woo) is easily befuddled, making a right turn while driving when he just said that he needs to go left. A panicking Park Ji-hwan (Gyeongseong Creature) has to then redirect him, yelling, “Left is supposed to be that way!” Even without Tan-shik, though, we see in the sequence how misfortune likes to have a laugh by following our team.

But the grumpy Mu Joong-ryuk (Park Ji-hwan) is not amused in the least and argues with Seo Hyun-woo (Celebrity), demanding to know, “Did you really need to do your business now? When I’m here like this?” The camera reveal is hilarious – added by Jung Jung-hwan (Seo Hyun-woo) not understanding the fuss, citing their close relationship as the reason.

We’re then introduced to our newly appointed team lead, the also seemingly zany Dongbang Yoo-bin (Kim Dong-wook). As we watch our bumbling crew chase down crime, Park Se-wan (Doona) asks for Yoo-bin’s opinion on them and Yoo-bin starts with: “Your heads are hasty, your feet are slow, and your lips are not sealed. You don’t seem very strong on first glance.” However, as the teaser comes to an end, Yoo-bin adds with a smile, “But there’s something charming about you as well.”

Production for the series has PD Ahn Jong-yeon (Racket Boys) and PD Shin Joong-hoon co-directing, along with scripts by Potato Star 2013QR3 and Smashing on Your Back writers, Lee Young-chul and Lee Kwang-jae. Coming to our screens on September 11, Disney+’s Seoul Busters will be kick-starting their story by releasing Episodes 1-4 on the day of the premiere.
