Is Kim Soo Hyun going to become the highest paid Korean actor in history?
Recently, OSEN released a report claiming that Kim Soo Hyun will be paid 500 million won (about $440,000) per episode of his upcoming drama “That Night,” this salary per episode would make him officially the highest-paid Korean actor ever for a drama appearance.
The actor had previously been reported to have received nearly 200 million won per episode of “Its okay To not be okay,” his first comeback drama post his military discharge.
It was also reported that the final sum of what he’s set to receive in “That Night” will likely exceed that number taking into account the revenue from advertisements, such as copyright sales, product placements and more.
As expected, the report has gone viral as people began to discuss it. In response to the report, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist released a statement, they didn’t confirm nor deny the news, they stated,
“We’re unable to confirm the news regarding his salary.”
Back in January of 2021, fans became excited after finding out that Kim Soo Hyun accepted the leading role in the upcoming drama “That Night,” the drama focuses on the story of two men after the death of a woman, it aims to explore the criminal justice system through their story. The drama is considered one of the most anticipated kdramas of 2021.
Kim Soo Hyun will play the role of Kim Hyun Soo, an ordinary hard-working college student who becomes a suspect in a murder case overnight due to a mistake. He uses evil to survive in a cruel world.
The drama is co-produced by Chorokbaem Media, The Studio M and Gold Medalist. Chorokbaem Media is known for producing many hit dramas including “The Fiery Priest,” “Whisper,” and “Backstreet Rookie.” The drama will be written by Kwon Soon Gyu, who wrote Warrior Baek Dong-soo and The Royal Gambler.
“That Night” is set to air in the second half of 2021.
