Lee Na-young to star in slice-of-life omnibus drama
by Jenzy
It’s been too long since we’ve had a feel good slice-of-life drama (really, any amount of time is too long), but thankfully Wavve is here to put the universe back into balance with its upcoming drama Park Ha-kyung’s Travels starring Lee Na-young (Romance is a Bonus Book).
The drama is described as an omnibus drama set in the 1990s and centered around Park Ha-kyung (Lee Na-young), a melancholic high school teacher who escapes the monotony of her job by taking Saturday day-trips to new and exciting places. Each episode will feature different people and play around with genres, ranging from meloldrama, to comedy, to fantasy. Park Se-wan (Alice, the Final Weapon) is also signed on to play Ha-kyung’s younger counterpart.
The rotating cast of supporting characters is already stacked with big names including: Han Ye-ri (Hometown), Gu Kyo-hwan (D.P.), Gil Hae-yeon (Strangers Again), Park In-hwan (It’s Beautiful Now), Shim Eun-kyung (Money Game), and others. Lots of others.
While there aren’t a whole lot of details yet, I’m already charmed by the peaceful low-stakes pitch of this pseudo-anthology series. It’s giving Animal Crossing escapism vibes, minus the capitalistic raccoon landlord, which is something I think everyone could use more of right now.
Written and directed by Lee Jong-pil (Samjin Company English Class), Park Ha-Kyung’s Travels will be available for streaming on Wavve sometime this year.
