Love is in the air in A Good Day to Be a Dog

MBC’s upcoming fantasy romance A Good Day to Be a Dog is just three-ish weeks away (not that I’m counting) and we’ve been graced with a new poster and stills to tide us over. Notably, the poster is a three-character poster — what feels like a rarity for dramaland. Showcased are our three leads: Park Kyu-young (Celebrity), Cha Eun-woo (Island), and Lee Hyun-woo (Money Heist: Korea — Joint Economic Area).
The breezy springtime poster showcases our teacher-heroine Han Hae-na (Park Kyu-young) gazing oh-so-dreamily at colleague and fellow teacher Jin Seo-won (Cha Eun-woo). For the record, I never had a math teacher that looked like him, but I digress. Looking down from a window above our OTP is Lee Bo-gyeom (Lee Hyun-woo), a new history teacher at the school who’s setting all the hearts a-flutter.
Lest the story and setting seem too simple, though, we must remember that our heroine is actually under a generational curse: when kissed, the curse activates, and she’ll be doomed to turn into a [scruffy and adorable] dog each night. I personally think that sounds amazing, but our heroine does not. And when there’s an accidental kiss between her and Seo-won, Hae-na must find a way to break the curse. The clincher is that in order to do so, Seo-won needs to kiss her again in her dog form — all the while, dogs are his Achilles heel (because no man is perfect, let’s face it).
Also complicating matters is our history teacher, who’s so much more than a history teacher. Secretly a mountain spirit, Bo-gyeom arrives on the scene and stirs things up. We catch a cute glimpse of him interacting with Hae-na in the new stills, and I have to say, there might be the rumblings of second lead syndrome in my future.
Directed by PD Kim Dae-woong (Start Up The Engine) and adapted from the webtoon by Baek In-ah, A Good Day to Be a Dog premieres on October 11 in MBC’s new Wednesday-only slot.
