Whether he’s promoting as a soloist or part of NCT, Ten isn’t afraid of showing skin to make the concept come to life. In fact, he goes shirtless so often that Mark once gave him the “Nude of the Year” award.
There’s a meaningful reason behind Ten’s willingness to show skin. He discussed the topic during a recent interview with Billboard magazine.
The magazine praised Ten for displaying sexuality in a way that’s “free and open” for “Birthday” and “Paint Me Naked”. The idol admitted it wasn’t intentional. Reaching the perfect balance of revealing and not too revealing came naturally to Ten because of his instincts.

Although some people might think Ten reveals too much skin, he’s comfortable expressing himself that way and never wants to lose that feeling. He also explained how wearing a bit less clothing showcases his dancing to the fullest.
This is my body and this is how I want to express it. Wearing too many clothes sometimes in dancing can block your body line. I don’t want to feel like I’m not confident with my body so I was like, ‘Let’s just do it.’

There was also a body-positive aspect that Ten took into account. He wanted to show himself as he is—without trying to satisfy others by putting on weight or exercising excessively.
That’s why I don’t really do fitness or try to build muscle for certain clothes. I’m skinny, so that’s just me. I don’t need to build it up to impress someone else.
