Bollywood Singer Neha Bhasin, on August 26, reportedly filed a police complaint against BTS fans, following the abusive threats she received and being cyberbullied by the K-pop fandom.

According to Pinkvilla, the singer submitted an FIR in Mumbai Police Cyber Crime branch against ARMYs, fandom of the world-renowned BTS due to bullying, abusive comments, and r*pe posts involving not only her but as well as her family.

On her Instagram account, Neha also revealed some of the screenshots of allegedly ARMYs containing disturbing comments, asking her to apologize to BTS, or else she will experience what the fandom can actually do.

On the reports of Hindustan Times, the singer-writer even shared that before filing complaints, she warned the fandom to stop, though it kept on getting worse each day, which is why she decided to take action legally.

“There’s a video circulating on YouTube where a young boy is openly threatening to r*pe me, if I don’t apologise,” she says.

Following the reports, netizens and K-pop fans express their disgust to the fandom. However, this is only one side of the story.

So why are ARMYs fuming in anger against Neha Bhasin to the extent that they trolled and harass her on SNS?

In 2019, an Indian rapper named Badshah released a song titled “Paagal.” According to reports, the song dethroned BTS’s “Boy with Luv” as the artist with most views on YouTube within 24 hours.

However, some fans accused Badshah of faking the views, which the rapper responded that it was not fake. Rather, they used Google Adwords, which is a kind of promotion that will make the video appear as an ad on other video contents.

This is where Neha Bhasin, his friend, entered the scene, who comforted the rapper in a tweet post.

However, the scenario got severe when Neha posted BTS’s “Boy with Luv” comeback stage video, and accused the K-pop group of “lip-syncing,” saying, “Yes, like this lip-sync performance which is auto-tuned to bits.”

She also added, “They are so heavily engineered and marketed.”

In particular, she explained that Badshah also has his fandom that loves and wants to see him, the same way that the ARMYs love and want to see BTS. That’s why instead of flocking to her timeline, Neha asked everyone to leave her and listen to the K-pop group’s songs instead.

Though some netizens get it that Neha is only mirroring what the other fans are doing to Badshah by saying those words to BTS, a wave of fans think the female singer doesn’t have to drag BTS into the issue.

Currently, opinions and views of K-pop fans are divided. Some are voicing out their explanation as to why Neha should file complaints right before the comeback of the K-pop group.

However, K-pop fans and netizens, including other ARMYs, are expressing their strong stand that they won’t tolerate the hideous behavior if proven that Neha’s claims are valid. According to netizens, the incident happened a year ago, and it is ridiculous that this alleged “BTS fans” are still attacking her and even threatening her life.

A lot of fans are also conveying that this will not only damage the fandom but the K-pop group as well – hence, this should be stopped.
