- Lee Bo-young (Hide) and Kang Ki-young (Queen of Divorce) are reviewing offers for a medical black comedy playing fellow doctors who work together in a side job… assisting terminally ill patients with euthanasia. In a remake of the popular Canadian series Mary Kills People, Lee Min-ki (Crash) will reportedly be co-starring, pinning on his police badge once again as the detective investigating their clinic. This casting has my full attention, and here’s hoping that production led by PD Park Joon-woo (Crash, Taxi Driver) will treat the sensitive premise with care. [Newsen, YTN]
- Dramaland has certainly been making room for medical stories to make their comeback, and Disney+ announced that Hyper Knife has been lined up for early 2025. Headlined by Park Eun-bin (Castaway Diva), Sol Kyung-gu (The Whirlwind), Yoon Chan-young (High School Return of a Gangster), and Park Byung-eun (The Bequeathed), the medical thriller has PD Kim Jung-hyun (Crazy Love, Awaken) at the helm with scripts by Kim Sun-hee (God’s Quiz 5). - On the fluffy side of fiction, tvN’s No Gain No Loss has come out with more promos, showcasing our self-sufficient heroine Shin Mina (Our Blues) in the newest teaser. In our self-service world, she can prepare her own romance, proposal, and even a wedding. But she will need a little extra help when our rom-com story begins on August 26, enlisting Kim Young-dae (Moon in the Day) to stand-in as her husband, uniting them in contract marriage. [MBC]
- Netflix dropped a new teaser as well, welcoming the return of Player 456 – a.k.a. Lee Jung-jae (Chief of Staff, The Acolyte) – to the perilous playground of Squid Game 2. Making a merry and scary holiday season, the second installment launches on December 26 with the production reins remaining in the hands of filmmaker Hwang Dong-hyuk (The Fortress). [TV Report]
- In the meantime, we can expect some chills from Netflix’s upcoming The Frog. Starring Kim Yoon-seok (Noryang: Deadly Sea), Yoon Kye-sang (The Kidnapping Day), Go Min-shi (Sweet Home 3), and Lee Jung-eun (Miss Night and Day), we learn a little more about our four leads in the recently released official trailer, before the mystery-suspense fully unfolds on August 23 next week. - Also coming next week is Coupang Play’s Cinderella at 2AM, with a pragmatic Shin Hyun-bin (Tell Me That You Love Me) and puppy dog Moon Sang-min (Wedding Impossible) as our not-so-fairytale pair in the latest poster. Along with second leads Yoon Park (Doctor Slump) and Park So-jin (Delightfully Deceitful), the rom-com premieres on August 24 in the weekend slot. [Newsen]
