- tvN’s Queen of Tears has finally been slated to broadcast, bringing Kim Soo-hyun (One Ordinary Day) and Kim Ji-won (My Liberation Notes) to our screens as our romance’s married pair this coming March. Coming from opposite sides of the track with the former hailing from the country hills while the latter is a chaebol queen, the main cast also includes Park Sung-hoon (The Kidnapping Day), Kwak Dong-yeon (Gaus Electronics), and Lee Joo-bin (Love to Hate You). - Park Bo-gum (Record of Youth) and Kim So-hyun (My Lovely Liar) have been signed on for JTBC’s Good Boy, both playing former Olympic athletes – from different sports – who start new careers on the police force. The action-comedy is expected to release later this year with PD Shim Na-yeon (The Good Bad Mother, Beyond Evil) at the helm and writing by Lee Dae-il (Life on Mars, Chief of Staff). [News1]
- In the meantime, JTBC is also busy with promos for Queen of Divorce, sadly taking a page from tvN’s book in wasting perfectly good cake (RIP). But I’m excited all the same for Lee Jia (Pandora: Beneath the Paradise) and Kang Ki-young (The Uncanny Counter 2: Counter Punch) to deliver some just desserts come January 31, helping wronged spouses with a delicious serving of divorce. - Shin So-yool (SF8: White Crow) has been added to the cast of MBC’s Our House, joining Kim Hee-sun (Remarriage & Desires), Lee Hye-young (Big Bet), and Kim Nam-hee (Family: The Unbreakable Bond) in the lineup. Production for the black comedy-thriller is being led by PD Lee Dong-hyun and writer Nam Ji-yeon (So I Married an Anti-fan). [Newsen]
- With the premiere now just over a week away, tvN released a dark highlight reel for the historical fiction Captivating the King, revealing the grim path that Jo Jung-seok (Hospital Playlist 2) will be forced to face. As he comes to ascend the throne, he’ll be cruelly entangled with Shin Se-kyung (Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun) as well and the story unfolds on January 21. [Osen]
- tvN also dropped the first stills for the timeslip romance Pick Up Sun-jae and Run, showcasing leads Byun Woo-seok (Strong Girl Nam-soon) and Kim Hye-yoon (Snowdrop). The web novel adaptation has scripts penned by Lee Shi-eun (True Beauty), with PD Kim Tae-yub (When My Love Blooms) and PD Yoon Jong-ho co-directing. [Sports Donga]
