- Congratulations to our gganbu Oh Young-soo (Squid Game) who won a Golden Globe this past week for Best Supporting Actor, Television! Squid Game has celebrated a few wins already last year (Gotham Awards, HMMA, AFI Awards, and People’s Choice Awards) and the excitement is high for the recently announced nominations in both the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Critics’ Choice Television Awards. - New Netflix series Goodbye Earth (a.k.a. The Fool at the End of the World) announced their main lineup: Yoo Ah-in (Hellbound), Ahn Eun-jin (The One and Only), Jeon Sung-woo (Homemade Love Story), and Kim Yoon-hye (Vincenzo). Directed by Kim Jin-min (My Name, Extracurricular) with scripts penned by Jung Sung-joo (Heard It Through the Grapevine, Secret Love Affair), the sci-fi drama explores what happens when an asteroid is about to bring apocalypse to Earth in 200 days. Ahn Eun-jin, Yoo Ah-in, Jeon Sung-woo, Kim Yoon-hye
- After offers were made last summer, Kim Woo-bin (Uncontrollably Fond) and Esom (Taxi Driver) have confirmed Netflix drama Black Knight with Kang Yoo-seok (Extracurricular) also joining the cast. Production will be led by film director Jo Eui-seok (Golden Slumber). [MBC]
- Actor Heo Sung-tae (Squid Game) joins Kang Haneul and Lee Yoo-young in JTBC’s new action-suspense drama Insider. Directed by PD Min Young-hong (Missing: The Other Side) and written by Moon Man-se (Priest), the story is about an undercover operation that goes awry.
- tvN’s new revenge melodrama Eve will be starring actors Lee Sang-yub (On the Verge of Insanity) and Seo Ye-ji (It’s Okay to Not Be Okay). Currently being planned to air towards the end of 2022, PD Park Bong-seop is attached to direct. [YTN]
- Yook Sung-jae (Mystic Pop-up Bar) and Jung Chae-yeon (The King’s Affection) are being paired in a new webtoon adaptation on MBC called Golden Spoon. An adventure tale about two friends who swap destinies, the drama is currently in the planning stages. [Newsen]
- Im Shi-wan (Tracer) and Seolhyun (Awaken) have both been offered parts in Summer Strike (working title), a new drama by Coffee Prince director Lee Yoon-jung. The story will be based on a popular webtoon called I Don’t Want To Do Anything. [Sports Chosun]
- Following a successful first season, Sweet Home 2 is well underway and actor Oh Jung-se (Uncle) is considering an offer to join the cast in the new second season. [JTBC]
- Channel S has a new talk show called Attack on Grandma premiering January 25, hosted by veteran actors Kim Young-ok (Jirisan, Squid Game), Na Mun-hee (Navillera), and Park Jung-soo (Mother of Mine). (Side note: I love Kim Young-ok’s adorable look with the green beanie!) [Newsen]
