Yoo Yeon-seok, Moon Ga-young

  • Yoo Yeon-seok (Hospital Playlist 2) and Moon Ga-young (True Beauty) will be starring in JTBC’s new office romance Understanding of Love. Based on a popular novel by the same title, the drama is still in the planning stages with production led by PD Jo Young-min (Do You Like Brahms) and scripts penned collboratively by Lee Seohyun and Lee Hyun-jung.   • As Business Proposal heads into its final stretch, the adorable Kim Se-jung has confirmed her next project: SBS drama Today’s Webtoon. In a remake of the Japanese drama Sleepeeer Hit!, Kim plays a former judo athlete who changes career paths and becomes a webtoon editor. Written by Jo Ye-rang and co-directed by PD Jo Soo-won (Doctor John, Thirty But Seventeen) and PD Kim Young-hwan (My Dangerous Wife, Doctor John), the premiere date is currently set for the second half of 2022.   • Speaking of sports, KBS drama Love All Play (formerly Going to You at a Speed of 493km) released a spirited new poster featuring the main cast, including Chae Jong-hyeop (The Witch’s Diner) and Park Joo-hyun (Mouse). [KBS]

  • We finally get to see some of the growing friendships among the five moms of JTBC’s Green Mothers’ Club: Lee Yo-won (Running Investigators), Chu Ja-hyun (Unfamiliar Family), Kim Gyu-ri (Designated Survivor: 60 Days), Jang Hye-jin (The Red Sleeve Cuff), and Joo Min-kyung (Jirisan).   • JTBC has been busy lining up their schedule and new drama Cleaning Up announced its cast: Yeom Jung-ah (SKY Castle), Jeon So-min (Show Window: The Queen’s House), Kim Jae-hwa (True Beauty), Lee Moo-saeng (Thirty-Nine), Na In-woo (River Where the Moon Rises), and Jang Shin-young (Babel). Planned for a 2022 air date, the story is about three cleaning ladies who overhear an insider tip and decide to jump into the stock market themselves. With writing done by Choi Kyung-mi (Return), PD Yoon Sung-shik (Mr. Queen) is attached to direct. [JTBC (1), (2), SBS]
  • Casting also continues for the Hong sisters’ drama, tvN fantasy Hwanhon, and the supporting cast now includes: Yoo In-soo (All of Us Are Dead), Oh My Girl’s Arin, Park Eun-hye (The King’s Affection), Lee Do-kyung (Hyena), and Im Chul-soo (Vincenzo) among others.   • I’ve been loving the vibe of all the promos for Murderer’s Shopping List, and a colorful new poster came out this week for tvN’s upcoming comedy-mystery. Starring Lee Kwang-soo (Live), Seolhyun (Awaken) and, Jin Hee-kyung (Was It Love), the premiere is currently set for April 27. [Newsen]
  • On TVING, it looks like they’re sending EXO’s Sehun (Now We Are Breaking Up) back to high school in a new drama called I Told You to Love (rough translation). Taking on the lead role, Sehun’s character experiences strange cellular memory after receiving a kidney transplant from his friend, which adds complications to his social life at school. [10 Asia]
  • Cha In-pyo (The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop) is coming back to the small screen as a South Korean President in a new sitcom called People of the Blue House. With Yeh Ji-won (The King of Tears, Lee Bang-won) as his First Lady, we have a strong lineup that also includes daughter Geum Sae-rok (Youth of May), Seoul’s mayor Jung Woong-in (IDOL: The Coup), and senior secretaries Jung Sang-hoon (Again My Life) and Lee Sang-hee (Juvenile Justice). Production is in full swing, and stills were recently released, but the broadcasting platform has not yet been announced. [MBC]
