- Kim Sun-ho (Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha) may be returning to dramaland in a romance sageuk called Hae-shi’s Shin-ru (romanized title). Set in Joseon’s renaissance era – during King Sejong’s reign – the drama is still in the planning stages with filming set to begin early next year. Scripts will be penned by Yoon Yi-soo, the author of the original novel and webtoon series by the same title. Well-known for writing the original novel series for Moonlight Drawn by Clouds, this will be Yoon’s first foray into drama writing. [JTBC]
Kim Hyun-joo, Park Hee-soon, Park Byung-eun, Ryu Kyung-soo
- The lineup has been announced for Netflix’s new original series The Bequeathed, which stars Kim Hyun-joo (Hellbound), Park Hee-soon (A Model Family), Park Byung-eun (Eve), and Ryu Kyung-soo (Hellbound). Written by our de facto horror master Yeon Sang-ho (Monstrous), directing will be helmed by Min Hong-nam who has worked as an assistant director to Yeon on several past projects including Train to Busan. - Continuing the theme of serious drama, a new poster has come out for JTBC’s Reborn Rich along with a video teaser unveiling the Song Joong-ki (Vincenzo) cut of the drama’s first teaser. Also starring Lee Sung-min (Shadow Detective) and Shin Hyun-bin (Monstrous), the drama will be coming to our screens on November 18. [News1]
- Counting down the days until our beloved mages return, tvN finally confirmed an air date for the 10-episode Alchemy of Souls 2. Remaining in the weekend slot, the fantasy-romance premieres December 10 with most of the original cast reprising their roles. Season 2 of the fantasy romance stars Lee Jae-wook, Go Yoon-jung, Hwang Min-hyun, Yoo Joon-sang, and Shin Seung-ho among many others. [Xports News]
- KBS has lined up their new sports drama Sincere Boxer (roughly translated), with Lee Sang-yub (Eve) and Kim So-hye (How to Buy a Friend) now confirmed as the leads. Slated to air early next year in 2023, the novel adaptation will be written by Kim Min-joo with PD Choi Sang-yeol and PD Hong Eun-mi co-directing. [News1]
- New posters have been released from Wavve’s upcoming original series Weak Hero Class 1, showcasing our young hero Park Ji-hoon (Remarriage & Desires). Although not featured, the coming-of-age action co-stars Choi Hyun-wook (Twenty Five Twenty One), Hong Kyung (Lovers of the Red Sky), and Shin Seung-ho (Alchemy of Souls), and will be launching next month on November 18. - More promos have dropped for tvN’s Behind Every Star, including new character posters of our leads: Lee Seo-jin (Dr. Park’s Clinic), Kwak Sun-young (Inspector Koo), Seo Hyun-woo (Extracurricular), and Joo Hyun-young (Extraordinary Attorney Woo). We also got our third teaser this week, giving us a peek at the fun celeb cameos to come! The comedy will be premiering November 7 in tvN’s Monday-Tuesday slot. [News1, Sports Chosun]
