- Taking a winning entry from MBC’s script writing contest last year, MBC has planned a new rom-com called Please Send a Fan Letter. The story has Sooyoung (If You Wish Upon Me) facing a celebrity crisis – all due to a fan letter – while single dad Yoon Park (Forecasting Love and Weather) starts writing (fake) replies to the fan letters his daughter has sent, not wanting her to be discouraged during her sickness. Slated to air this coming November, production is being led by PD Jung Sang-hee and writer Park Tae-yang. [MBC]
- In the meantime, MBC has released another poster for their upcoming May I Help You. To provide the best service and fulfill the needs of customers – dead or alive – the drama pairs our ghost-seeing heroine Hyeri (Moonshine) with butler extraordinaire Lee Jun-young (Let Me Be Your Knight). The fantasy-romance will be coming to our screens on October 19, in the Wednesday-Thursday slot. [MBC]
- Lee Na-young (Romance Is a Bonus Book) is making her return to dramaland with a contemplative story in wavve’s Park Ha-kyung’s Travels (working title). The drama follows our heroine on a random Saturday when she gives into the urge to escape somewhere, and goes on an impulsive one-day trip. With filmmaker Lee Jong-pil (Samjin Company English Class) as the talent behind the camera, filming is set to begin in October. [News1]
- Lee Hyun-woo (Money Heist Korea: Joint Economic Area) has been added to A Good Day To Be a Dog, joining Cha Eun-woo (True Beauty) in the cast lineup. This means Lee will be the second lead (*sob*), but hopefully we’ll get some fun bromance with the two characters being close colleagues. The drama is still in the planning stages and filming is scheduled to start next month. [News1]
- Over on SBS, a third season has been confirmed for Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim. Han Seok-kyu (Watcher) will be returning, of course, as our irascible hero. Also reprising their roles are season two’s leads, Ahn Hyo-seop (Business Proposal) and Lee Sung-kyung (Shooting Stars). Aiming to broadcast in the first half of 2023, production continues under the trustworthy hands of PD Yoo In-shik (Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim 2) together with the original writer Kang Eun-kyung. [SBS]
- Namgoong Min (The Veil) takes on an eccentric role as well in SBS’s One Dollar Lawyer. In the current sea of high-tension legal dramas, it’s refreshing to see some comedies mixed in with the genre instead, and I’m excited for the hijinks promised in the newest teaser. Also starring Kim Ji-eun (Again My Life) and Choi Dae-hoon (The Good Detective 2), the drama premieres next week on September 23. [YTN]
- Speaking of eccentric, D.O. (100 Days My Prince) makes quite the impression as well in the newest poster for Bad Prosecutor. Although he’s more delinquent than quirky, his behavior is certainly perplexing to understand for his more sensible colleague Lee Se-hee (Young Lady and Gentleman). KBS’s legal drama premieres in just a few weeks on October 5, in the Wednesday-Thursday slot. [KBS]
