The globally-acclaimed movie—which won the Palme d’Or at the 2019 Cannes International Film Festival—became the first foreign-language film in history to win the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, which is given to the entire cast of a film for their combined exceptional performances. Parasite was the first-ever Asian film and only the second foreign-language film to be nominated in this category. It was competing with “Bombshell,” “The Irishman,” “Jojo Rabbit,” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”
