Playing whodunit with Eom Ki-joon in War for Survival

The madness continues in the newest promos for SBS’s War for Survival and just when I was thinking that nothing else could shock me, we’re greeted with our mastermind Eom Ki-joon (Little Women) sporting platinum locks in the makjang’s new group poster.
But tech CEO Matthew Lee (Eom Ki-joon) remains elusive in the teaser, where we open on another glitzy event. As Yoon Jong-hoon (Shooting Stars) schmoozes to the crowds, in voiceover he reveals his latest money-making scheme to capitalize on online fake news: the trashier, the better.

We then meet star celeb Lee Yubi (Yumi’s Cells 2) who has a big show for the flashing cameras, before having a meltdown behind the scenes. She’s scared that her secrets will be exposed to the public, but representing her is CEO Hwang Jung-eum (Men Are Men) who threatens off a reporter with ease.
The teaser then returns to Yang Jin-mo (Yoon Jong-hoon) offering to make a deal, from one crook to another. Although desperately on the run, Lee Joon (Red Heart) is still skeptical, asking incredulously, “Do you expect me to believe you?” But Geum Ra-hee’s (Hwang Jung-eum) patience is running thin and she angrily declares, “What the world believes is the truth!”
In the sequence, the intermittent text screens announce the 2023 showdown between the dishonest truth vs. the truthful lie. Like flipping a switch, we go from a sobbing Ra-hee – asking who the murderer is – before cutting away to the next scene where she reveals a smug smile. The trailer then ends with Matthew’s voiceover, teasing us with a sing-song voice to guess who the murderer is.
With production led by PD Joo Dong-min and writer Kim Soon-ok, the makjang masters behind An Empress’s Dignity as well as the Penthouse trilogy, SBS’s War for Survival will be launching on September 15.
