We’ve got a lot of premieres ahead of us (more on the weekend shows later in the week), and in our Wednesday-Thursday slot, we have tvN’s new melodrama Eve. Seo Ye-ji’s drama comeback has her scheming revenge against Park Byung-eun using all of her wit and wiles — and a lot of patience, it seems, to execute her years-in-the-making plot. Also starring is Lee Sang-yub as the politician who feels compelled to protect Seo Ye-ji’s character. Does she need protecting? Will she show him her vulnerable side? Or will she just use him, and his affection for her? The drama manages to look both soapy and sumptuous all at the same time, and at this point it can go either way — but I’m banking on the talent to inject enough raw emotion to carry this thing from slippery soapy mess into melodrama heaven.
