Premiere Watch: Woori the Virgin, Rose Mansion
by missvictrix
More dramas on the way — one rom-com served hot, and one mystery-thriller served cold, with a side of creepy neighbors. It’s always fun when dramaland gives us lots to choose from — but where to start? My drama plate seems full.
Time slot: Monday-Tuesday
Broadcaster: SBS
Genre: Rom-com
Episode count: 16
Reasons to watch: I’ll just go ahead and say it. All the reasons to watch this one are probably the wrong reasons, but it’s not gonna stop me: a K-drama adaptation that comes with no guarantees, a rather hard-to-picture plot, and my guilty pleasure Sung Hoon in the lead. Am I expecting a world-class rom-com? Not really. Am I expecting a messy, cracktastic drama that I somehow can’t seem to turn off? Yes, yes I am.
Time slot: Fridays
Broadcaster: TVING
Genre: Mystery, thriller
Episode count: 12
Reasons to watch: I was all set to jump into this drama because I miss Yoon Kyun-sang, but then I realized they were really leaning into the eerie thriller aspect. Im Ji-yeon plays a hotel employee whose sister has disappeared, and in the wake of it, she heads back to her family’s home (a.k.a. a creepy apartment building, because K-drama thrillers love those). Weird things happen there, and the only person willing to help our heroine sort things out and find her sister is detective Yoon Kyun-sang. Both our leads seem to have it all together, but the more we learn about them, the more we see the deep insecurities and secrets they’re hiding…
