Byun Woo-seok, who has risen to global fame in just eight years since his debut, thanks to his role in the hit tvN Monday-Tuesday drama Lovely Runner, is now one of the most sought-after stars in the industry. Despite the flurry of casting offers, Byun is taking a measured approach to his next project, carefully considering each opportunity. He remains undecided on his future work but is actively engaging with fans worldwide, participating in advertising campaigns, and attending various events post-Lovely Runner.

Since the phenomenon of Lovely Runner, Byun Woo-seok has reported receiving 10 to 20 times more script offers than before, spanning across both drama and film genres. An entertainment insider commented, “There’s intense competition to secure Byun Woo-seok for upcoming roles. They’re even willing to adjust character ages to fit him, reflecting the high demand and difficulty in scheduling him.”

However, Byun Woo-seok’s next project will need to meet his specific criteria. During a recent interview, he emphasized his desire to act in roles that truly resonate with him and allow him to overcome his perceived shortcomings. He values the role of the director highly, recognizing that a strong director can significantly enhance a project and help him grow as an actor.

A production company insider speculated, “Byun Woo-seok is likely to choose a project with a director who can address his areas for improvement. It’s expected that a prominent director will be at the helm of his next role.”

Byun Woo-seok recently made a special appearance in the tvN X TVING drama No Gain No Love, honoring his loyalty to director Kim Jung-sik from Strong Woman Nam-soon. He portrayed a part-time worker with a cold demeanor, diverging from his usual charismatic roles.

For the latter half of this year, Byun Woo-seok will concentrate on external activities rather than new projects. He is set to embark on an Asian tour, including fan meetings in Seoul, Taipei, Bangkok, Manila, Jakarta, Singapore, and Hong Kong, with a final event scheduled in Japan on the 28th and 29th.
