As one of the most veteran idols, 2NE1‘s Sandara Park (also known as Dara) has some of the most interesting stories about being an idol. Recently, she gained attention for revealing the petty reason YG Entertainment‘s founder once scolded her.
Sandara first debuted back in 2009 as part of the iconic YG Entertainment group 2NE1.
As Sandara has been in the business for so long, it isn’t surprising that she has so many stories to tell about her time as an idol.
Recently, the idol gained attention for some comments about her time at YG Entertainment. On February 1, a new episode of the YouTube series Unnies with No Appetite was released.
During the episode, along with chatting about food, they emphasized the fact that there were three generations of idols in the episode.
Along with Sandara, who is a second-generation idol, there was the first-generation idol and Baby V.O.X member Yoon Eun Hye along with the third-generation idol OH MY GIRL‘s Hyojung.
Eun Hye debuted back in 1997, and Sandara’s debut with 2NE1 was back in 2009, a time that was completely different. According to Sandara, times were a lot stricter back then, and Eun Hye even added that sometimes she gets called a boomer when she says certain things.
Sandara then revealed that she was scolded a lot, and, of course, everyone wanted to know the story.
Luckily, Sandara was more than happy to spill on what happened, and it was all because of YG Entertainment’s founder Yang Hyun Suk.
The situation happened when Sandara got into the same elevator as Yang Hyun Suk. While they were in there, she noticed that nobody was pressing the button and was unsurprisingly unsure why.
Considering how young Sandara was, it wasn’t surprising that she was confused as she added that she thought, “He’s going to the 7th floor, but why isn’t he pressing?”
In the end, Sandara did what any normal person would do and just went ahead and pressed the floor that she was going to, which was the fourth floor where the practice room was.
Of course, she wasn’t to know that the custom was that if someone is older or more senior, you should press the button for them. Yang Hyun Suk seemed to assume Sandara knew and was just being rude as he turned to her and said, “What are you doing?”
Eun Hye earlier explained that it was probably due to the cultural differences that Sandara didn’t know that she had to press the button for Yang Hyun Suk, but added, “At least you can talk and laugh about it now!”
While it was a different time and K-Pop companies were known for being strict, it seemed like a petty reason to scold someone, especially as Sandara spent a lot of her teenage years in another country that had different customs.
