Song Kang and Lee Do-hyun lead a final crusade in Sweet Home 3
by solstices
More promotional material has arrived for Netflix’s Sweet Home 3, further building upon the expanded scale of its previous installment to conclude the series on a climactic high. This time, as the poster says, our heroes will engage in “the final battle to protect everyone” — it’s time to end the war between humans, monsters, and humans that behave worse than monsters.
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade, and when life gives you monster mutants, make… neohumans? At least, that’s the sentiment of those in power, hoping to put an end to the monster outbreak by ushering in an era of enhanced lifeforms. Within the enclosed facility known as the “stadium,” survivors are rounded up and confined under close watch. Individuals that display symptoms of monsterization will now be afforded better conditions, encouraging the transformation rather than condemning it.

Amongst these survivors, we see some familiar faces, namely our protagonist Cha Hyun-soo — played by Song Kang (My Demon) — alongside alongside the young Kim Shi-ah (See You in My 19th Life). Outside, Go Min-shi (Jirisan) and Jinyoung (My Perfect Stranger) continue to survey landscapes and fight off monstrous threats, anchored by climbing ropes amidst burning flames.
Even with the world descending into instability around him, and the stadium devolving into brutal brawls, our hero refuses to even consider giving up. With his colossal monster wing, Hyun-soo slashes his way through the viscerally grotesque monsters. Reuniting with Lee Do-hyun (Death’s Game) at long last, Hyun-soo faces off against Lee Jin-wook (Welcome to Wedding Hell), who plays Pyun Sang-wook. Or rather, a mimicry of him. Vowing to expel the parasitic entity inhabiting the vessel that is Sang-wook, Hyun-soo takes flight, soaring towards the enemies he must eliminate.
Helmed once again by PD Lee Eung-bok (Jirisan) and PD Park So-hyun, with scripts by Hong So-ri and Park So-jung, Sweet Home 3 will come knocking on our doors this July 19.
