Sooyoung becomes Jeon Hye-jin’s daughter in ENA’s Strangers

The first promos have arrived for ENA’s upcoming Strangers, with cute new posters of our mother-daughter pair along with stills from the comedy’s first script reading.
Based on an acclaimed webtoon by the same title, the drama adaptation has Jeon Hye-jin (Uncle) playing the free-spirited and cheerful single mom Eun-mi, who proudly carves her own path in the world – social conventions be damned. She also holds her own professionally, as an accomplished physiotherapist. But she is still very much a child at heart, leaving unintended messes like a trail behind her.
As a result, it’s often her 29-year-old daughter Jin-hee – played by Sooyoung (Please Send a Fan Letter) – who is always nagging and picking up after mom. Of the two, she’s much more cool-headed, calm, and collected. Although she works as a police officer at a local post, sometimes Jin-hee feels like she’s losing focus, spending more time looking after Eun-mi than her own responsibilities.
In the romance division, Ahn Jae-wook’s (The Empire) character is the mysterious ENT specialist Jin-hong, who suddenly appears in Eun-mi’s life one day. Park Sung-hoon (The Glory), on the other hand, is Jin-hee’s police boss, the prickly but soft-hearted Chief Jae-won.
Supporting cast includes Kim Sang-ho (Bad Prosecutor), Ahn So-yo (The Glory), Yoon Seok-hyun (Taxi Driver 2), and Sohn So-mang (Kokdu: Season of Deity) among others.
Directed by PD Lee Min-woo (Cinderella and the Four Knights, God’s Quiz 4) with scripts by Min Sun-ah, ENA’s Strangers is slated to premiere on July 17, following Lies Hidden in My Garden in the Monday-Tuesday slot.
