The power of Jang Hyuk and Jang Nara’s Family

Promos are ramping up for tvN’s Family (though I’m greedy for more!) and we get another peek at our beloved leads Jang Hyuk (Red Heart) and Jang Nara (Sell Your Haunted House) this week in new stills and a video teaser.
The comedy stars the two as the happily married Kwon Do-hoon (Jang Hyuk) and Kang Yura (Jang Nara) who live with their daughter Shin Soo-ah, together with Do-hoon’s family. There’s never a quiet day, though, when everyone has secrets to hide — from Do-hoon’s secret job to Yura’s secret strength.
But while they have special abilities, it’s sweet to see that they are just like other families, and it’s a nice touch to have the new stills look like candid family photos. Even the hilarious eyebrow mishap could plausibly happen to any dad.

In the new teaser, we get a look at Do-hoon in action while out on the field for his real job. Introducing himself as Agent 404, he swiftly fights his foes before jumping onto a speeding car. But it’s less impressive when he does it again on his wife’s car and Yura ignores him. Do-hoon then whines that he’s going to quit his job, and Yura makes her disapproval clear.
We then cut to our spry head of the family Lee Soon-jae (Behind Every Star), who impresses his friends on the monkey bars at the park. Do-hoon’s family reconvenes afterwards to wind down and party together, and our hero declares that this is the power of family. In the intermittent text screens we read: “Our family’s story is more secretive and more intense than being a secret agent.”
Then, surprising his wife with flowers, Do-hoon and Yura get excited about some alone time. But their plans are immediately squashed when they discover the rest of the family is at home. The teaser then closes with our group gathered in the car and Do-hoon narrates, “The risky double life of an ordinary family. Family premieres April 15.”
With PD Jang Jung-do and PD Lee Jung-mok at the helm and writing by Jung Yoo-sun (That Man, Oh Soo), tvN’s Family will be airing in the Monday-Tuesday slot starting April 17.
