The new SBS drama The Fiery Priest 2, starring Kim Nam-gil, Honey Lee, and Kim Sung-kyun, has released a teaser poster, signaling its exciting comeback.
The Fiery Priest 2 is an extreme joint investigation comedy-drama that follows the hot-blooded priest Kim Hae-il (Kim Nam-gil) as he heads to Busan to tackle a drug case in Gudam-gu. The first season of The Fiery Priest, which aired in 2019, was a mega hit, achieving a peak viewership rating of 24% (Nielsen Korea, based on the metropolitan area). The highly anticipated second season returns after five years.
This season was developed in response to consistent viewer requests, bringing back writer Park Jae-beom, who penned the first season, along with director Park Bo-ram, and stars Kim Nam-gil, Honey Lee, and Kim Sung-kyun, generating even more buzz. The production team has teased that a new storyline set in Busan will unfold this season.
The teaser poster captures attention with the intense expressions of the main actors. Kim Nam-gil, Honey Lee, and Kim Sung-kyun are featured with the tagline, “Bellato’s mission, let’s begin,” heightening expectations for even more powerful confrontations. Kim Nam-gil showcases his warrior spirit while holding a rosary, embodying the passionate priest Kim Hae-il. In this season, he will battle evil forces as ‘Bellato’ with special authority.
Honey Lee’s character, Park Kyung-sun, who appeared as a villainous prosecutor in season 1, transforms into an apostle of justice this season. Her menacing appearance, knife in hand, suggests that she will be a strong ally to Kim Hae-il.
Kim Sung-kyun reprises his role as Gu Dae-young, a detective in the violent crimes unit of Gudam Police Station, where he will once again showcase his bromance with Kim Hae-il. His stance holding a gun in the poster highlights his unique charisma.
The production team stated, “This season will focus on Kim Hae-il, who has received a new mission as Bellato, and his assistants as they take down the evil cartel,” adding, “Kim Nam-gil, Honey Lee, and Kim Sung-kyun will display fantastic chemistry.”
The Fiery Priest 2 will premiere at 10 p.m. on November 8, serving as the follow-up to The Judge from Hell.
