Timeslip hijinks in The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract
by tccolb
The promos continue for MBC’s The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract and now that we’ve gotten the angsty backstory out of the way, the newest teaser reveals the hijinks that await as our 19th century heroine Lee Se-young (The Law Cafe) is introduced to modern day.
As with previous trailers, we begin in Joseon times where we catch up on Park Yeon-woo’s (Lee Se-young) sweet but tragic romance with Bae In-hyuk (Cheer Up). Yeon-woo wistfully informs us that her late husband’s face is very clear in her memory. Understandably, she can’t help but be drawn to his present-day doppelgänger Kang Tae-ha.

But Tae-ha isn’t the only surprise for Yeon-woo in 21st century South Korea and it’s an eyeball overload for our ever-curious heroine. The sequence takes us through her wonderment of new experiences as Yeon-woo encounters international tourists, public displays of affection, modern technology, and – most importantly – the great Chocopie.
Still, Yeon-woo does make an attempt to return home to Joseon, waving farewell to Tae-ha before jumping into the pool. Needless to say, her plan is an epic fail and I expect Tae-ha is going to be very busy swinging between panic and exasperation as Yeon-woo adjusts to her new life.
In the intermittent text screens, we read: “A precious contract marriage story about a 19th century Confucian girl who jumps through time and lands in the 21st century.” But our heroine is more than capable when facing any obstacle and the teaser ends on Yeon-woo’s promise: “I’m going to do everything I can. Because he’s my husband.”
Written by Go Nam-jung (Wife Scandal) with directing helmed by PD Park Sang-hoon (My Secret Terrius), MBC’s The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract will be premiering next month on November 24.
