According to an announcement from JYP Entertainment today, July 17, TWICE will finally be holding an online concert for fans next month! The twist? They’re using SM Entertainment’s new concert platform, which boasts benefits like live fancams and augmented reality.

ONCEs were dismayed when several TWICELIGHTS tour dates in Korea and Japan were cancelled earlier this year due to COVID-19 concerns. Now, fans will finally get to see the members perform in concert again—but this time, it’s online.

Titled TWICE: World in a Day, the online concert will be held on Sunday, August 9 at 3:00PM KST, just over 3 weeks from the announcement date.

This makes TWICE the first non-SM Entertainment group to hold a concert using the company’s new Beyond Live platform. A collaboration between SM Entertainment and Naver, Beyond Live takes concerts to the next level using augmented reality.

Through Beyond Live, TWICE will also be able to interact with ONCEs in real-time, just like they would during an in-person concert. Plus, past concerts on the platform have included close-up live fancams for every member.

Reviewers from The Korea Herald described the visual effects at NCT127’s Beyond Live concert as “impressive”, featuring illusions of elevated boxing rings, vast deserts, and even dragons.

They also said the concert was surprisingly intimate, with the members interacting extensively with fans. They even held a Q&A session with fans from around the globe.
