Some MVs are light and fluffy and a visual treat. Some MVs go for weird and attention-grabbing. But this week, the MVs are all about power — powerful imagery, powerful voices, and powerful lyrics. As always, you can find these songs and more on my New Kpop to Spin Spotify playlist. Come see what I’ve been listening to! Lay – “Lit” So I watched this video right after watching Agust D’s “Daechwita” again. I only recommend doing this is if you’re ready to take some time to ponder the deeper meaning behind both videos! “Lit” is full of rich imagery and strong lyrics, though Lay isn’t fighting against his former self like Agust D — he’s just proclaiming himself to be the king. Either way, this MV is visually satisfying. Victon – “Mayday” “Mayday” is the perfect follow up to “Lit”. It has depth to it that shows how Victon is maturing as artists. I love the deep bass line and strong contrasting melody line. M1NU – “Nabi” M1NU’s voice is intriguing — I love the smokey tone of it. This is a chill hip hop song that grabbed my attention and wouldn’t let me go. TuZi – “Peace” (cover of Wanna Go to Happy World) I really love this band — they are fantastic now, and listening to Hojin’s gritty vocals gives me an insight into the powerful singer he’s going to be in the future. TXT – “동물원을 빠져나온 퓨마” (“Puma”) TXT is moving into a more mature version of themselves — this is definitely not bubblegum pop! I love the deeper message behind the song — it’s based on the story of a puma that escaped a zoo in Daejeon. BONUS TRACK: Jung Jin Woo – “Dive” (Mystic Pop Up Bar OST) I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS SONG! The hopeful tone of it during the credits is what sold me on the drama. I’m so glad I found it! What powerful songs have you been listening to lately, k-fans? Drop down in the comments and let me know — I’d love to add them to my list!
