In JTBC’s upcoming drama Snowdrop, Jung Hae-in (D.P.) stars as Im Su-ho, a second generation Korean-German grad student with a heavy backstory. The recently released poster shows him through cracked glass, looking downward. The caption reads: “Im Su-ho. A man who aims his fate toward that woman.”
Snowdrop is set against the political backdrop of Seoul in 1987 and opens with a blood-covered university student (Im Su-ho) barging into a female dormitory. One courageous woman hides him and treats his injuries, despite the danger. This woman is a cheerful freshman English major named Eun Young-ro, played by Jisoo (from Blackpink). She’s dragged to a co-ed drinking party by her roommate and falls in love with Im Su-ho at first sight.
Jisoo and Jung Hae-in are joined by actors Yoo Inna (The Spies Who Loved Me), Yoon Se-ah (Forest of Secrets 2), Jang Seung-jo (The Good Detective), Kim Hye-yoon (Extraordinary You), and Jung Yoo-jin (Catch the Ghost).
In an interview, Jung Hae-in revealed that he settled on this project because of the director’s strong faith in the quality of the project, and his trust that Jung Hae-in would fully capture the character of Im Su-ho. Regarding his character, Jung Hae-in said, “I think he has strong leadership skills. He takes care of his friends and family. He is also firm in his personal convictions.”
Jung Hae-in says he took special care to express the distress that Im Su-ho feels when his entire belief system is wrecked, and he has to deal with a situation that puts him at odds with his beloved. Regarding other preparation he did for the role, Jung Hae-in said he needed to bulk up for this character more than his previous roles, and also that he learned to become familiar with handling a gun.
Written by Yoo Hyun-mi (SKY Castle) and directed by Jo Hyun-tak (SKY Castle), Saturday-Sunday drama Snowdrop will air on JTBC starting December 18.
