Will ‘Gyeongseong Creature 2’ be able to address the mixed reactions from its first season?
In the upcoming season set in 2024 Seoul, ‘Ho-jae’, who bears an uncanny resemblance to ‘Taesang’, and ‘Chae-ok’, who survived the turmoil of Gyeongseong, reunite to unravel the unresolved threads of their intertwined fates. Netflix’s original series ‘Gyeongseong Creature’ Season 2 has unveiled 16 new press stills, sparking intrigue by depicting the characters in both contemporary Seoul and the historically dark Gyeongseong of 1945.
The stills highlight ‘Ho-jae’ (Park Seo-joon), who mirrors ‘Taesang’, the owner of the prominent Gyeongseong pawnshop ‘Geumokgang’. ‘Ho-jae’, now a vice president at ‘Bukang Company’—a detective agency known for handling any request for a price—finds himself entangled in a murder investigation that leads him to cross paths with ‘Chae-ok’ (Han So-hee). Mistakenly identified as a suspect, ‘Ho-jae’ pursues ‘Chae-ok’, who he believes holds the key to clearing his name.
Meanwhile, ‘Chae-ok’, who exists between human and monster after consuming Najin, stumbles upon ‘Ho-jae’, who looks strikingly like ‘Tae-sang’, while working as ‘Eun-je-bi’ in her quest to find missing persons. Initially bewildered, ‘Chae-ok’ suspects the involvement of non-human entities in the case and embarks on a quest to uncover the truth. The stills show a series of tense encounters, including ‘Chae-ok’ being captured and ‘Ho-jae’ sustaining injuries, hinting at the challenges they will face on their journey.
Additionally, Jeonseung Pharmaceutical, an organization that, despite its mundane exterior, conducts covert experiments, echoes the dark practices of ‘Ongseong Hospital’ from the past. The cold and calculating ‘Captain Kuroko’ (Lee Moo-saeng), who leads the secretive Kurokos for Jeonseung Pharmaceutical, adds a layer of suspense with his ruthless tactics. Among the Kurokos, ‘Seung-jo’ (Bae Hyeon-seong) stands out with his formidable strength and tentacle attacks, intensifying the conflict. The stills of ‘Seung-jo’ confronting ‘Chae-ok’ heighten anticipation as he begins a relentless pursuit of both her and ‘Ho-jae’.
The production team for ‘Gyeongseong Creature 2’ promises that Season 2 will deliver a gripping story filled with unpredictable twists, exploring the complex relationships and fates of its characters across different time periods. The new season will be available on Netflix starting September 27.
