The next Hallyu Star is now revealed!
WJSN, also known as Cosmic Girls, proved to be a “global trend” by winning the next Hallyu Star Award at the “2020 Newsis Hallyu Expo” (2020 NEWSIS K-EXPO) held on August 26. The daesang specifically won by the K-pop girl group, is given to the next generation of Korean Wave stars who will develop the Korean wave and raise the status of the Korean culture on the global stage.
On the same day, Starship Entertainment, WJSN’s agency, received the Korea Creative Content Agency Award, an award given to companies that contribute to the development of the cultural content industry, the spread of the Korean Wave, and the discovery of artists, further raising expectations for WJSN’s performance on the international scene.
The girls acknowledged their gratefulness to their agency by saying, “Thank you so much to Starship who always works hard, and we also thank UJUNG. We will continue to work harder so that we can communicate with the public through various contents.”

Since its debut in 2016, Cosmic Girls has boasted an unrivaled musical color with a worldview mixed with multihued concepts and various stories, and has been growing steadily breaking its own record. Also, the members are active in various fields such as drama OST, acting, and entertainment.
Meanwhile, Cosmic girls has recently set its own new record with the title, “Butterfly” from its mini-album “Neverland,” and is loved by music fans both locally and abroad, winning two music shows and receiving spotlights from Billboard, a U.S. music media outlet. “Butterfly,” is produced by GALACTIKA as well as Exy’s lyrics participation of the project. The music video showcases the girls’ struggles along the path of transitioning from a teenager to adulthood. Thus, the butterfly wings symbolize every girl’s desire to spread its wings for freedom.
Also, member Bona, including Seol A, who starred in Netflix’s “Urban Ghost Story,” is KBS 2TV’s “Oh! Samkwang Villa!” have been confirmed to appear in ‘Samkwang Villa!’ Da-young is also starring in the original KakaoM web drama ‘Love Revolution’ and Eun-seo is part of the production of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission. Dawon is also participating in the web drama “Dalgona” and is acting in the musical film “K School.”
