D.O. is an impetuous Bad Prosecutor in a tracksuit

An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth — have you ever seen a prosecutor who fights his battles like that? KBS’s upcoming legal drama Bad Prosecutor centers around a hero who does just that, and if its poster is anything to go by, our tracksuit-wearing protagonist is sure to deliver some laughs and a well-deserved whooping to the bad guys.
D.O. (100 Days My Prince) makes his post-military dramaland comeback as prosecutor Jin Jung, whose claim to fame is that he’s known for being the resident crazy guy in the prosecutor’s office. That makes his name extra funny, since it means “calm” — but I have a feeling he gets told to calm down more often than not.
Apparently Jung’s hotheaded ways reach unprecedented levels of brashness, making him a good-for-nothing delinquent in the eyes of his fellow prosecutors. Still, while Jung might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, he has his heart in the right place. When the scales of Lady Justice fail to protect the weak, Jung is ever-ready to unsheath his proverbial sword and fight on their behalf.
He’s joined by the calm and competent Shin Ah-ra, played by Lee Se-hee (Young Lady and Gentleman). She’s a prosecutor too, but that’s about the only thing she has in common with Jung. In contrast to his unconventional ways, Ah-ra is rational, level-headed, and by-the-book; her adeptness at playing the social game makes her well-liked by her colleagues.
Their opposing personalities may seem like a prime breeding ground for conflict, but as a senior prosecutor, Ah-ra is obliged to look out for Jung. As she tries to rein him in, her worry and concern may just grow into a sense of protectiveness over him — looks like there’s a reason Ah-ra is described as having tsundere charms.
Helmed by director Kim Sung-ho (Move to Heaven) and written by Im Young-bin (Sketch), Bad Prosecutor is slated to air on Wednesday and Thursday nights. The drama will run for 12 episodes, starting October 5.
